Thai Parasailors Triumph at South East Asian Championship,
Bringing Home Gold and Bronze

Bangkok, Thailand – In an extraordinary display of skill and determination, Thailand’s elite parasailors from Disabled Sailing Thailand have clinched a gold medal and a bronze medal at the prestigious South East Asian Parasailing Championship held in Hong Kong. Parasailing is an adapted form of sailing designed for athletes with physical disabilities.

The four-day championship featured sailors from Hong Kong, China, Mainland China, Macau, Thailand, Nepal, Jordan, New Zealand, and the Philippines competing in challenging waters around Hong Kong.

The victorious Thai team comprised esteemed athletes Thitapa Saelim, and Supakit Duangngern (coach), won Gold in the 303 Double Class. This was closely followed by Boonkoed Ratchaporn and Edward Hart, who secured bronze in the 303 Double Class.

Their remarkable achievement not only places Thailand on the international parasailing map but also highlights the athletes’ adaptability and skill, as they normally train on different types of boats in Phuket.

“Winning gold and bronze at this championship is a dream come true,” said Peter Jacops, the founder of Disabled Sailing Thailand. “The competition was tough, but our training and determination paid off. We’re proud to have sent Thai athletes on this Asian stage.”

This significant success was made possible through the generous support of individual donors and corporate sponsors to Sailability Phuket, an officially registered foundation crucial in funding
Phuket’s parasailors. By providing resources for training, equipment maintenance, and participation in international regattas, Sailability Phuket ensures that the sailors are competition-ready and equipped to succeed globally.

Santi Tantrongtrongw, President of Sailability Phuket, expressed immense pride in the team’s accomplishments. “This victory is not just for Disabled Sailing Thailand but for the entire nation. It underscores the potential of parasailing as a competitive sport and, we hope, paves the way for its
recognition and support by sports authorities,” he stated.

Disabled Sailing Thailand, affiliated with the Yacht Racing Association of Thailand, is dedicated to promoting inclusive sailing, offering free access to anyone with a physical disability.

The organization’s commitment to inclusivity and excellence in sport has now been internationally recognized, with hopes that these achievements will encourage further support and recognition of
parasailing as an official sport.

**กรุงเทพฯ ประเทศไทย** – ในการแสดงทักษะและความมุ่งมั่นที่ไม่ธรรมดา นักกีฬาเรือใบชั้นนําของประเทศไทยจาก Disabled Sailing Thailand คว้าเหรียญทองและเหรียญทองแดงในการแข่งขันกีฬาเรือใบคนพิการแชมป์เอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้อันทรงเกียรติที่จัดขึ้นที่ฮ่องกง ซึ่งเป็นรูปแบบการแข่งขันเรือใบที่ดัดแปลงซึ่งออกแบบมาสําหรับนักกีฬาที่มีความพิการทางร่างกาย

การแข่งขันชิงแชมป์ 4 วันมีทีมเข้าร่วมจากฮ่องกง, จีน, จีนแผ่นดินใหญ่, มาเก๊า, ไทย, เนปาล, จอร์แดน, นิวซีแลนด์ และฟิลิปปินส์ เข้าแข่งขันในน่านน้ำที่ท้าทายของฮ่องกง

ทีมไทย 2 ทีมที่ได้รับชัยชนะประกอบด้วยนักกีฬาผู้มีชื่อเสียง นางสาว ฐิตาภา แซ่ลิ่ม และ นาย ศุภกิจกิจ ด้วงเงิน (โค้ช) คว้าเหรียญทองในรุ่นแข่งคู่ เรือ ฮานซา 303 ตามมาด้วย นายบุญเกิด ราชพล และ นายเอ็ดเวิร์ด ฮาร์ท ผู้ได้เหรียญทองแดงในรุ่นประเภทคู่ เรือ ฮานซา 303 ความสําเร็จอันน่าทึ่งของพวกเขาไม่เพียงแต่ทําให้ประเทศไทยอยู่ในแผนที่ระดับนานาชาติเท่านั้น แต่ยังเน้นย้ำถึงความสามารถในการปรับตัวและทักษะของนักกีฬา เนื่องจากโดยปกติแล้วพวกเขาฝึกบนเรือประเภทต่างๆ ในจังหวัดภูเก็ต
